As of late, Vending Machines at Karns High School have had constant problems. From vandalism to inaccessibility students haven’t been buying their snacks or drinks. After a recent break in to one of the vending machines the school has moved them into the back lunchroom and are now locked up outside of lunch hours.
Many are upset, vending machines became part of their regular schedule. Tucker L, a karns student believes moving the vending machines was a huge mistake. Going the extra way to the back lunchroom takes more time out of students’ passing periods, potentially causing students to become tardy.
Although some are annoyed, others are content with the changes. Coach Kiley sees the good in the changes. Lots of students would ask to leave class to grab a snack or two, but with the new location of the vending machines that’s no longer an issue. They’re turned off during class so there’s no point in students even asking to go anymore.
Despite the inconveniences, plenty still purchase items from the vending machines and students have lots of feedback to give. Tucker hopes they add noodles to the catalog of products, while Coach Kiley wants miniature cookies and gatorade to be sold.
The current setup is by no means perfect and many hope for further adjustments. The changes have been complicated and irritable, but having the machines anywhere in the school is something to be grateful for and is a huge improvement to the school conditions for students.
