Little Brown Books announced the 20th anniversary special editions of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Saga on Valentine’s Day. They are set to be released on September 30th and are up for pre-order. The box set features five hardcover books, including four main books of the series: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. The fifth in the collection is Midnight Sun, a retelling of Twilight from Edward Cullen’s point of view.
Interestingly enough, it does not include Life and Death, the genderbent version of Twilight, nor does it include The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, a novella centered around a side character and her interpretation of events leading up to the final battle in Eclipse.
The books themselves have exclusive jacket redesigns. The first book keeps its infamous red apple on the front cover, but instead of pale hands around it, it is hidden in the leaves of a spiraling tree. Instead of a red feather, the second installment of the series has La Push on its front cover– the main beach setting of the novel. Eclipse has the mountain from the final battle on the front instead of the bright red, fraying ribbon of the former cover.
Breaking Dawn has a picture of the Cullen house as its front cover, rather than the previous rendition of the Queen chess piece. Lastly, instead of a dripping pomegranate, the cover of Midnight Sun is the meadow that Edward and Bella frequent often throughout the series. Each of the special editions have sprayed edges rendered to look like a starry sky. The box itself also has immersive art of Edward and Bella on the back.
Outside of the special 20th anniversary editions of the series, there are also two other options available to preorder: Twilight: Deluxe Collector’s Edition and Twilight (20th Anniversary Edition). The deluxe vintage-inspired collector’s edition features a foil-stamped slipcase, a new floral hardcover, and interior and endpaper art of Bella and Edward. The latter paperback has sprayed edges with the quote, “And so the lion fell in love with the lamb,” as well as inside cover art of Edward.
Regardless of which you choose, there are plenty of options to sink your teeth into!
