Karns High School is going through renovations to fix new shelves…..it provides new books for the students from new book shelves, many teachers go to the library for EOC-practice testing.
During early April teachers use the library for testing, which gives the students the library to be used for testing when it comes near the end of the school year. The teachers have to prepare for testing just like the students, hence the EOC-practice testing.
“We are trying to have it fixed during summer,” Heather Newman, the karns librarian said.
Many students are unaware that renovations are underway and for those who like to read,…… students can put their own book suggestions, which might give students time to read additional books they might like. Some students can find their favorite book series which might open their eyes to read more.
“We are mainly trying to fix the shelves before the freshmen get here,” Heather Newman said.
Students are always doing extracurricular activities and sports, students don’t go to the library too often. Many students and staff are trying to find out what metal bracket broke so they can order a new metal bracket so the shelf won’t break.
“There are only 1400 students in this school and I get 50 students each day,” Heather Newman said.
The metal pieces of the shelf broke because of the overweight of the books placed on the shelf, which caused one part of it to break making the shelf look slanted, and off sided, which is why the librarian is trying to get new shelves that won’t break so easily.
