Members of the National Honors Society roll up their sleeves Friday nights, staying after home football games to clean the stadium. The National Honor Society (NHS) is a national organization that recognizes students for outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership, character, and service.
The sponsor of the club is English teacher John Cionfolo who decided to support the club because an abundance of his students qualify for NHS.
“National Honor Society is a service and leadership organization in which students are invited to join based on their academic performance,” Mr. Cionfolo said.
Last year NHS and members of Blue Zoo took on the role of picking up the stadium after football games, and even expanding to picking up around inside and outside of the school. The club’s motto is “Karns Helps Karns,” which they show through their sense of dedication and community service.
“The NHS has made me think I can do more than I ever have,” President Charlie Lopez said.
Charlie cares deeply for the club and feels like it has inspired her to step up her game and become the best version of herself she can be.
“National Honor Society is great community service and it helps you get involved in the community,” Brooke Bilbrey said.
Brooke feels that the NHS has made her feel more involved in the community as well as encouraged her to do great things. National Honor Society allows students to become more involved in the community as well as empowering them to do incredible things now and in the future.
