On June 20th, 2025, “K-Pop: Demon Hunters” streamed on Netflix for the first time. The movie is fast-paced and action-packed. It is full of memorizing songs and cute and pretty scenes. This magical movie has viewers memorized. Based on Ancient Korean mythology and directed by Maggie Kang, viewers want more.
Self-acceptance and finding oneself are major themes throughout “K-Pop: Demon Hunters,” with the Huntr/x girls: Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, a k-pop demon hunter girl band. Each girl has their share of struggles, shared through the top song, Golden. The movie mainly focuses on Rumi’s struggles. She has to find and accept herself, through fighting demons and friendship.
At the beginning, the viewers are introduced to the backstory behind the movie. A quick glimpse of Huntr/x shows and it goes to the backstory. The scene shows k-pop demon hunter girl bands before Huntr/x and the honmoon, the barrier that guards the world from the demons. It shows demons in the world, causing chaos, and people adults and children being afraid.
The movie then goes back to the present.The group is on a plane. Bobby, the Huntr/x manager, calls the girls. The girls figure out that they aren’t going to their concert, but somewhere else entirely! The girls figure out that the pilot, steward, and other plane staff are demons. The scene then shows Zoey putting makeup on a demon, in a headbolt and Mira and Rumi fighting the others.
The girls then show up to their concert. We see Giru-Ma, the ruler of the demons, with the Stewardess from the plane, in her demon form. She gets in trouble and Giru-Ma wants to get back at the hunters. Then, a mysterious demon appears with a blue tiger and a musical instrument. and says that he has an idea.
The rest of the movie revolves around Huntr/x main enemy, the Saja Boys, a demon boy band. The leader is Jinu. He was the demon who had the idea. He and Rumi have a romance together. Jinu is protective over her. At the end, Jinu gives his soul to Rumi. The honmoon turns blue. Surprisingly, the blue tiger and the three-eyed pigeon are still there.
With magical scenes and amazing music it is no wonder that “K-Pop: Demon Hunters” is number one on Netflix. There are several songs including but not limited to Soda Pop, Takedown, and Golden, on the top 100 billboard. The movie has heart-breaking moments and several hilarious scenes. Fun for all ages, even adults and full of magic. “K-Pop: Demon Hunters” is the perfect choice for a movie marathon. There are a lot of theories to the movie. Don’t beat demons until you try it.
