The Karns Beavers kicked off against the Clinton Dragons on Friday, September 12. The Beavers started off strong with Cameron George (#20) scoring a touchdown, and Alexis Maciejewski (#25) kicking a successful extra point. The Beavers blocked a punt by the Dragons, and a field goal was kicked by Luis Figueroa Lopez (#26). In the second half, two touchdowns were scored by Karns, bringing them to a close win at 21-24. Karns assistant head coach and teacher, Al Feldblum, had very direct thoughts about the Beavers’ performance.
“I thought we played really really well. I also thought we made enough mistakes that are fixable that it didn’t have to be that close sometimes.” Feldblum said.
Friday, August 19 marked Karns’ game against Powell and Eighth Grade Night. Eighth Grade Night allowed younger members of the Karns community to showcase their skills physically and musically. This included football players, cheerleaders, and band kids. The young members of the community got to experience walking across the field, performing on the field, and performing in the stands.
The Karns High School Beavers took a hard loss against the Powell Panthers. Luis Figueroa Lopez (#26) put the Beavers only points on the scoreboard as he kicked a field goal in the first quarter. A scuffle on the field ensued between Quenton Bowman (#17) and a Powell player in the second quarter. This resulted in Bowman being ejected from the game. It was a hard loss for Karns after a two game winning streak against Campbell County High School and Clinton High School.
