Students are seeing some new faces during this new school year, and they may be wondering how these new faces feel about Karns High School and how their experiences have been so far. We have over ten new teachers at Karns, and a few of them shared their experiences at KHS so far.
Lizzy Roberts is a Computer Science teacher here at KHS, she also works alongside the cheer team and the cheer coach, Dewanna Glover.
“I love getting to build relationships with the kids,” Roberts said, “Getting those opportunities to joke around and goof off, but be serious in the types of situations where you need to be.”
Students spend 40 hours a week sitting in a class room, and it can be very draining for most of them, so they need teachers who actually want to connect with them, and who will make their classroom and teaching environment eventful.
Keith Hall is a Social Studies and Bible teacher here at KHS, and before this school year, he got a coaching position as one of the football coaches for the Karns football team.
“I originally wanted to be a park ranger and I never thought about being a teacher, but eventually I realized that being a teacher is what God called me to be,” Hall said.
Last year, Hall was a football coach at Grace Christian Academy, and he was on track to retire this year, but when he got offered the coaching position on the spot of his interview here, he couldn’t turn it down.
Logan Atwell is a Social Studies teacher here at KHS, and before this school year, similar to Hall, he was given a coaching position here for our football team.
“My experience at KHS has been very positive and welcoming,” Atwell said, “I love the students and the administrators that I have met so far, and I am very excited to see what the future holds for this school year.”
Before Atwell came here, he taught at Hardin Valley Academy, so you could say that he made the right decision coming here to KHS.
These are only a few of the new teachers and faces that we have at KHS this year, but so far, the experiences have been what we like to see for our school. If you have any questions for them, always ask. It will make their day to know that they can help students with anything they need, even if they are new to KHS.
