Marvel Zombies is a great show although it has some glaring flaws. The show is a continuation of a fan favorite episode from another show, Marvel What If.
The show lacks suspense and surprise. It is very predictable in scares. For a horror show it isn’t very scary. And the jumpscares are seen from a mile away. Which is not what you want from a horror franchise.
It’s hard to care about character deaths because the majority of the characters are lame powerless randoms that don’t do jack squat. Many characters are very pointless and feel like they are just there to die.
On a positive note characters like Blade, Red Guardian, and Shang-Chi are extremely unique and fun. They carry the show in the character department. They were the main reason that kept me watching.
The show is painfully unfunny. The jokes are corny though this is a common theme with marvel media in general. The show would have been better if they didn’t try to be funny.
The opening for episode 2 is awesome, it is thrilling to watch the characters run through the streets. Shang-chi’s dad killing all the zombies was awesome and we need more badass moments like that for this show
Another great part of the show is how fun it is. The red guardians army of zombies is fun and the valley of gods is unique. There’s mad max scenes with scrolls. Which is something I would never expect. The underwater city scenes reminds me of the aliens movies (specifically aliens 2)
In conclusion marvel zombies excels in uniqueness. But falls behind in a lot of places.
I still would recommend this to any horror/marvel fan.
