The iPhone 17 recently released in September and students are debating over whether the purchase is worth the money with its high price tag and new features. It includes an enhanced camera quality, different placements of buttons, and more of a modern design compared to the past iPhones. Some students here at KHS have found the iPhone 17 to be more interesting/different than the other generations ever made by Apple.
“The new iPhone 17 comes with many perks and differences,” said Christian Cobb, a student with the new phone, “I’m glad that I decided to upgrade, the phone feels more improved compared to the past iPhone’s.”
Every September, Apple releases a new device that opens up improved and advanced techniques, as well as additional quality of life details for their users. Individuals who buy the phone get better battery life, good camera quality, and security features.
Kennedy Quisenberry, a Sophomore student here at KHS, finds the iPhone 17 to be pretty basic. She says that if Apple continues to drop iPhones similar to that model, she will never upgrade again.
“Even though the phone comes with many more detailed features,” Quisenberry said, “I still feel like the past phones Apple has come out with are better as far as looks, making the new phone an unnecessary purchase.”
Many find upgrading to the newest iPhone every year unreasonable unless their current phone is damaged in some way, because Apple typically uses the same resources and materials to design the phone each year with some slight improvements.
Pyper Treece, a Sophomore student here at KHS, thinks that the iPhone 17 is really cute, she says that she’s considering getting it, due to the battery and overheating issues on her iPhone 11.
“I love that this year, Apple decided to come out with an orange iPhone, especially since I’m a Tennessee Vols fan,” Treece said.
Apple designers spend many months designing the next iPhone to drop, they gather information, and come up with resources that will make a better improvement on the next Phone, meaning more sales and commission.
