The Beavers faced off against the William Blount Governors on September 26. In the first quarter, Weston Writter (#0) scores a touchdown with Alexis Maciejewski (#25) scoring the extra point. Austin Slover (#9) scored the second and final touchdown of the quarter with Alexis Maciejewski scoring another extra point for the Beavers. In the second quarter, no touchdowns were scored, but a field goal was scored by Luis Figueroa Lopez (#26). Another field goal was attempted by Figueroa Lopez at the end of the quarter, but was not made. In the third quarter, Cameron George (#20) scored the only touchdown of the quarter with Alexis Maciejewski scoring the extra point. The final touchdown for the Beavers was made during the fourth quarter by Weston Writter with no extra point being scored after.
Homecoming is defined as an annual event for current and former students of a high school, college, or university, typically featuring a football game and a dance. Another element that comes to light is fundraising and supporting school organizations. Karns High School had 24 students participate in fundraising for different school clubs and organizations. Five candidates raised over $10,000 for their respective clubs and organizations. A total of $120,039 was raised by all 24 candidates. The Homecoming Queen is Grace Schoenfelder having raised a total of $21,037 for the girl’s track team. The First Runner Up is Kirsten Woolman having raised $17,862 for the baseball team. The Second Runner Up is Arabella Shepard having raised $17,365 for the cheer team. Homecoming candidate for flag football, Lakia McMahon, shared her perspective on why she chose what to run for.
“I chose it because it’s a new sport. We needed new equipment, uniforms, and it also helped with fees.” McMahon said.
The Beavers took a harsh loss against the Halls High School Red Devils at the Homecoming game on October 3, losing 49-15. Although the Beavers lost the game, Tre Ndayishimiye (#4) scored a touchdown, and a two point conversion followed. The Beavers only scored one other touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
