Students at Karns High School went on fall break on Oct. 4-12, and they went on many adventures during their week of vacation away from the dreaded everyday school routine.
Many students went on vacations, for example, one student, Ali Daugherty, went to Ruby Falls with her family. She visited the waterfalls and caves in Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga.
“It was really fun,” Daugherty said, “the waterfall [seen on vacation] changes colors, it was so beautiful.”
Daugherty warned tall people about going into the tight caves and the amount of time spent in the caves might require preparation before going in. She was excited to share the other memories she made with her family on the days off.
“I went to the pumpkin patch… and Friday, I went to a wedding,” Daugherty said.
Some spent the week at home, doing the everyday activities they love. Rebecca Arizmendi, used her free time to get her friends together.
“On Wednesday, me and my small group did a girls pj night where we read the Bible,” Arizmendi said.
Arizmendi spent some time with herself watching shows and videos, showing it is reasonable and normal to not do anything mind-blowing over the break.
“I watched a bunch of tv and scrolled on tiktok, and I went shopping,” Arizmendi said.
Those who did not do many activities during the fall break are not alone. Student, Olivia Patterson, spent her week off of school tending to her family’s needs.
“My mom has surgery on the third or fourth day of fall break,” Patterson said, “it’s been pretty stressful.”
Patterson spoke on the stress of taking care of a loved one in ill condition while having a large family. Many students don’t have amazing plans for fall break and need to use their time to be there for their family. That’s normal and no one is alone in having stressful breaks off of school.
Every student needs a break from the everyday lessons, sometimes for relaxing, other times to step in for loved ones. The Beavers had plenty of unique stories about their fall break experiences
