The Karns High School Ghoul at the School event will take place Saturday, October 25, from 4-6 p.m., in the KHS cafeteria. This event is an opportunity for the younger kids in our community to dress up in costume, get their face painted, receive lots of candy, etc.
Cynthia Rhoden and her event planning students are in charge of the various events that are organized by KHS, and that includes Ghoul at the School. They organize the event, decorate to make it more fun, and attend to interact with the kids. Some of the KHS sports teams help with this event also, that includes cheer, baseball, football, softball, etc.
“Ghoul at the School is an event that gives our community an opportunity to come together,” Rhoden said, “It feels great to know that kids and their families get to have fun at an event that our school organizes.”
It is always important for different schools to have fun events like these, because school shouldn’t just be about sitting in a classroom for hours and hours on end. There should be events aside from the work and pressure that school can put on students and kids.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the atmosphere come together with all the decorations,” said Kennedy Wrinn, a sophomore at KHS, “Seeing all the guests have a good time participating in all of the activities that are offered at the event.”
The students at KHS work really hard to make these events exciting and successful for everyone who attends, but for Ghoul at the School particularly, the kids who come, expecting to have fun not only on October 31. The decorations and the activities to do there make the event attractive to the kids in our community.
“This year we are doing ‘Trunk or Treat’, but we haven’t decided on a theme yet,” said Dewanna Glover, the KHS cheerleading coach, “Anywhere from Candy Land to Spooky Land – who knows.”
Glover has been the cheer coach at KHS for over 40 years, and at the start of her working at KHS, she was the librarian. She has pictures of previous Ghoul at the School events that date back to 2017, and that was the first year of the event. Cory Hackworth was the previous leadership teacher at KHS, and this event is one of the projects he started.
