Karns student, Alison Loveday, shines bright with her many contributions in the variety of plays she has performed in over the past five years. Theater arts is where stars like Alison display their underrated talents on and off the stage.
Alison Loveday, who’s a well known actress and a great help backstage has been at this for 4 years now. What inspired her to start acting was her fathers passions for being on stage, in turn with her joining a community theater and advancing from then on.
“My dad did opera in college so that was part of it… and what got me to audition was because I saw a girl from my school that was in it,” Alison said.
In acting you theatrically portray characters and you must do it to a top tier to be a star. She’s played many roles and said that she would definitely pursue theater in the future. Playing in so many different roles really gives an actor more opportunities for diverse roles.
“My current one right now [her role], we’re doing crucible and I played Rebeca Nurse,” Alison said.
Acting, while it is a desirable job, is very demanding on those who participate. Having to compete, remember and recite lines, along with choreography for a chance to be picked is no easy task.
“Its very competitive, but it brings you out of your comfort zone and lets you meet new people,” Alison said.
With acting and its hardships it’s very easy to prioritize your craft over having a social life. A work life balance is always healthy, but how could someone with a passion for theater arts like Alison juggle school, life, and theater.
“It takes up a ton of my time, but I do focus on school with me sometimes doing work in the theatre,” Alison said.
Theater arts is a creative community that encourages self expression and gives others the chance to articulate their craft. The space that the stage gives, front or back, leaves opportunity for creative talents like Alison to meet others like them for a sense of belonging.
