It was a sad night at the Lodge as Karns fell to Austin East.

The beavers came into Friday night 2-2, hoping to get a win against aAustin East. Karns was originally scheduled to play district rival Powell, but the game had to be postponed due to COVID-19. Karns saw good turnout for their home opener, despite Coronavirus cases surging in Knoxville.

Karns started off slow, struggling with turnovers. Transfer center Aidan Goins led the Beavers defensively with several blocks in the first quarter. Karns was up 20-19 going into the second quarter. Both Karns and Austin East got into foul trouble, trading free throws back and forth. The Roadrunners scored 20 in the second quarter, leading 39-33 going into halftime. Both teams came out hot after halftime, trading threes and fast breaks. Both teams still struggled with fouls, Austin East leading by 6 going into the fourth. The Roadrunners ran away with it, holding Karns to 12 points and ultimately winning 75-59.

Karns hopes to bounce back against Oak Ridge, a State Title contending team.
