The Beavers lost 50-7 at Clinton under the Friday night lights.

In a cold and rainy game where Karns was heavily favored to win, the Beavers were blown out. Penalties plagued Karns all night. Regardless of a win or a loss, Karns is hosting a home playoff game against Walker Valley and Clinton is eliminated from playoff contention.

Karns gets the ball to begin the game, but quickly punts it back to Clinton after two block in the back calls and a false start. The punt is shanked, giving Clinton the ball on Karns’ 47 yard line. Clinton’s first play is a slant pass that breaks off, setting up an easy one yard touchdown run. Clinton goes up 7-0 with 10:20 left. Another Karns block in the back call brings back a long Desean Bishop touchdown run. He would score with 6:21 left, Karns’ only points of the night. It was tied 7-7 with 6:21 left. With 4:30 left in the first quarter, Clinton turns it over on downs. Karns’ offense saw some hope on a slant to Walker Lockhart from Cassen Huffaker, but it was quickly taken away when the Beavers botched a fake punt attempt.

After the failed fake punt, Clinton would be in the red zone again after Jeremiah Blauvelt went up and “mossed” a Karns defender at the six yard line. The Karns defense would come up big on fourth and goal, keeping it 7-7 with 10:57 left. Karns’ offensive struggles continued, punting again with 6:32 left. Clinton scored again with 4:01 left, but a blocked PAT left it 13-7. Clinton would recover the ensuing kickoff muffed by Karns. Blauvelt would “moss” a Karns defender again, setting up a Clinton touchdown run. Failing the two point attempt, it is now 19-7. Karns saw some light on the kick return, but another block in the back call brought back Bishop’s kickoff return for a touchdown. Karns would go into half down 19-7.

Out of half, Clinton’s Connor Moody breaks off a long run. Set up in the red zone, Clinton runs it in then converts the two point conversion. The Dragons were up 27-7 with 10:18 left. After Karns could get nothing working, Clinton scored again on a pass to Trace Thackerson. After another two point conversion, Clinton went up 35-7 with 7:14 left. Karns punts on the next drive. After finally getting a stop, Clinton punted the ball back to the Beavers. The offensive struggles continued as Karns turned it over on downs after failing on 4th and 15.

Clinton would punt it back to the Beavers, who got stopped on fourth down at their own five yard line, setting up for another Dragons score. With 7:49 left, they converted the two point conversion and increased their lead to 43-7. Karns would fumble the snap on the ensuing drive and Clinton scoops and scores, making it 50-7. Karns would give the ball back to Clinton who ran the clock out, ending the onslaught.

Karns looks to bounce back next win in their first home playoff game in history versus Walker Valley. Walker Valley, a passing team, differs from Karns in almost every aspect, setting up an interesting game.
