It’s Homecoming time in Karns!

Karns homecoming season is here, and KHS students are looking forward to the dance, homecoming week, and of course the hoco football game; all this starting on Oct. 1st.

The first homecoming event is the dance which is being held at Karns High School on Oct. 1st from 7-9pm. For the dance, the theme is “Homecoming Hoedown”. The dress code for this event is simple, wear what you want.

“You can dress fancy or you can dress country/western” says Brooke Peters, one of the teachers in charge of the sophomore homecoming committee.

This means the students can dress pretty casually if they choose, or they can wear their fanciest clothes. It is really up to the student.

“As a student, decorating the hallways was always something I enjoyed.” Says Peters.

The day after the dance, Sunday, Oct. 2, is when each grade level will be decorating their hallways to prepare for homecoming week. This will happen from 12-6pm and students can stay and help as long as they want.

The school week of Oct. 3rd is the homecoming week, where there are special games during lunch, dress-up days, and more.

“I look forward to homecoming week each year because people always go all out and get really excited about it.” Says Garet Lopez, a student at Karns.

Homecoming is a big week-long event at Karns, and the students look forward to it each year. This year’s dress up days are Country vs. City, Decades day, Anything but a backpack day, Twins day, and Colors day.

During homecoming week, each day during lunch there will be mini olympics each day where students get to participate in competitions in order to win points for their grade level. During the Friday pep rally, there will be the Beaver Creek Olympics.

“I am most looking forward to the football game and I really hope everyone gets creative as possible with the theme” Says Taylor Mcnew, a Karns sophomore.

After school, on Friday the 7th is finally the Homecoming football game. Karns will be playing Halls High School at 7pm and the theme is black out.
