Ryan Branson is a senior soccer player at Karns High School. Branson recorded three goals and three assists in two games. Branson won the PrepXtra high school girls athlete of the week. Branson went against Ellie Ackermann, Ava Garrett, Avery Jolly and Sade Lee. Branson received tickets to the fourth annual Knox News Sports Awards presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans.

“My goal for senior year was to get nominated, so it felt really good. Winning was incredible because all of my family, friends and people I don’t even know came together to help me win.” Branson stated.

“Congratulations to all the other athletes nominated. I was a little intimidated, especially considering I was up against soccer and volleyball players.” Branson said. “Once people get nominated, it’s up to them to get votes. I didn’t think I was going to win but it was awesome when all those people came together to help me win!” Branson added.

“Getting nominated made me want to work harder to live up to the expectations and standards I had already set for myself.” Branson said.

“I think I was chosen because my stats stood out that week. I finished this week with 3 goals and 3 assists.” Branson stated.

Advice she would give to athletes that want to be nominated, “In order to be nominated you have to be a team player. If it wasn’t for the rest of my team, I wouldn’t have been nominated.” Branson said.
