The Beavers played well under cloudy skies to win against Campbell County.

Desean Bishop stole the show on a televised Rivalry Thursday contest versus Campbell County. The Beavers (0-3) came in seeking their first win against region foe Campbell County (3-2) since 2011. 

 

Rain and poor field conditions forced both offenses to utilize the run game. Bishop opened the game with a rushing touchdown making it 7-0 Karns. The defense stopped Campbell County on their next drive. With 6:52 left in the first, Logan Ewing stuffs Campbell County’s punt attempt, giving Karns the ball on the 5 yard line. 38 seconds later, Bishop takes it himself out the wildcat for a Karns touchdown, making it 14-0 Karns. Campbell County’s C.J. Allen responded with a rushing touchdown of his own, making it 14-7 Karns. Karns wasted no time, scoring another touchdown on a 70 yard run by Bishop, making it 21-7 Karns with 2:21 left in the first. On the first play of the second quarter, Campbell County scored on a five yard touchdown run. Campbell County misses the extra point, Karns leading 21-13 with 11:57 left in the second. With 6:46 left in the second quarter, Campbell County quarterback Hunter White completes a pass to Makyle Shepard for six. Campbell County misses the PAT, making it 21-19 Karns. 27 seconds later, Bishop ran in for his fourth score of the night. Karns enter halftime up 28-19. Campbell County strikes first out of the locker room with a short run by C.J. Allen, making it 28-26 Karns. With 2:50 left in the third, Bishop ran in for his fifth score of the night, making it 34-26 Karns. 33 seconds later, C.J. Allen score on a 70 yard touchdown run, bringing Campbell County within 2. With 7:24 left in the fourth, Bishop ran in for his sixth score of the night, extending Karns’ lead to nine. Campbell County gained some momentum as the game wound down, scoring on a pass from Hunter White to Devon Jones to pull within two with 1:37 left in the game. Karns’ offense couldn’t get anything going, giving Campbell County the ball with about a minute left in the game. Jayden Brown of Karns sacks Hunter White to seal Campbell County’s fate, giving Karns the win 41-39. Desean Bishop finished the night with a career-high 330 yards and six touchdowns.

 

Karns (1-4) plays Oak Ridge (2-3) for their Homecoming game next Friday, October 2nd.
