The sun goes down over the Dam on Friday night.

The Beavers came into Friday looking for their second win of the year, following their win last week against Campbell County. The 3-3 Wildcats came into Friday following a dominant win against Clinton the week before. Karns hoped to rely on star running back Desean Bishop against Oak Ridge. However, Karns’ offense struggled all night, and the team was plagued by penalties.

Oak Ridge scored first out the gate with 6:12 left in the first. Karns muffed the kickoff after the Oak Ridge touchdown, giving the Wildcats great field position. Oak Ridge scored on the first play following the turnover making it 14-0 with 6:00 minutes left in the first. The Karns defense made a goal line stand, falling on a fumble on their own 5 yard line with 3:02 left in the first quarter. Oak Ridge’s starting quarterback Mitchell Gibbons throws a touchdown with 11:50 left in the second quarter, making it 21-0. Following a Karns turnover on downs, Oak Ridge scores again with 6:37 left in the second quarter. Desean Bishop responds quickly with a long touchdown run of his own, making it 28-7 with 6:37 left in the first half. Breaking the silence, Devin Sanz throws a pick six to Oak Ridge with 16 seconds left in the first half, making it 35-7 going into halftime. Oak Ridge came out of half, scoring quick on a QB scramble, making things 42-7. Near the end of the third quarter, Oak Ridge’s Trey Rowe carries the ball in for a touchdown, bringing it to 49-7 at the end of the third quarter. Karns had some early life in the fourth, scoring on a run by Desean Bishop with 11:45 left in the game. Oak Ridge’s backup quarterback Hayden Tarwater scored the final touchdown of the game on a pass to make it 56-14.

Karns hopes to make some adjustments over the bye week and bounce back against Heritage on October 16th.
