Due to her impressive showings in the 2022 season of volleyball, Junior Jessie Barton has been given the Offensive Player of the Year Award.

Despite that, Barton remains humble.

“I’m really proud of the team,” Barton admitted.

“At first we started out a little rocky, but … towards the end of the season we got our team coordination down and everything worked out pretty good,” she continued. As she said, it worked well, with the Karns High Beavers finishing 5th in the district rankings, and Barton, of course, winning the Offensive Player Award. However, she was not a shoe-in, as she had one competitor in mind who she thought could have beaten her and taken the award herself.

“There was this one girl from Hardin Valley … she was really good, she definitely gave me a run for my money on the offensive award,” said Barton.

Alongside her amazing accomplishments on the court, Barton is a powerhouse in class as well. Having a 4.1 weighted GPA, she’s among the best of her peers.

To conclude, Jessie Barton led her team humbly with impressive kindness and skill, and truly deserves the Offensive Player of the Year Award she received.
