It’s 2025, and KHS basketball had a tough year. In the Beavers’ next season, the team will hopefully try very hard to put in the effort, getting blocks, steals, and some offensive or defensive rebounds. The Karns Basketball team’s skills are what makes them compatible.
Their coach sees basketball not only as a fun way to come together as a team and play a sport but also an academic opportunity to keep students accountable so they can continue to play.
“Hold them to higher grades like A’s and B’s for average C’s or they can’t play,” Mr. Henson said.
Of course, the entertainment factor is still important. People enjoy playing the game and enjoy watching the sport too. The passion for the sport and the team do a great job at spreading school spirit.
The basketball team has been constantly sharpening their skills over the past few years, with players being faster, more agile, and overall better players. With Coach Henson helping them and pushing them to be their greatest self, they could go anywhere.
“Having other priorities and other things part of the time to help you adapt more easily,” Mr Henson said.
The first game for the boys’ basketball team is at South Doyle High School on Nov. 19th at 7pm. Zane Vance, a player for the team, deeply cares about it and has a personal connection to the game.
“My brothers played, and I always played when I was little,” Zane said.
The team definitely has potential, and Karns is excited to see how far they can make it this year. With their dedicated players and their great coaching, they have a strong chance at taking it to a high level.
