The Karns Cozy Crochet Club is ready for its first year of members, it specializes in teaching them how to crochet or just have some tea and craft. It’s hosted by the English and ELL teacher, Mrs. Gallagher. This Club’s next meeting is on November 20 2025 from 8-8:40 a.m. to start either a Christmans project and/or a Thanksgiving craft. Mrs. Gallagher has big plans for this year’s set of members, starting with learning the basics and eventually starting a holiday craft.
Some of the members of the Karns Cozy Crochet Club are: The Host Allison Gallagher, KHS Nurse Karen Beatty, and KHS Security Officer Kellie Eads who are ready to jump into an amazing year in the club. These three members and more are ready to read, starting with the basics of crochet.
“My target audience is anyone who loves to craft or is looking for some way to meet new friends but can’t do after school clubs,” Gallagher said.
Crocheting is a hobby that anyone can learn, from a bored student who needs a hobby to a creative elderly woman. No matter who you are, you can always crochet.
“On the mental health side,” Eads said, “I think crocheting allows a person the time to decompress, Zen out, focus on a task that when completed gives you a sense of accomplishment… enjoy creating blankets, hats, scarves etc. to give away as gifts, give to those in need or simply keep for themselves.”
Crocheting can help anyone be more creative, improve mental health, provide social outlets, enhance cognitive functions, and help wind you down for a long night’s rest.
“I have mentioned we should put one together so we can share ideas, patterns and things we have already made,” Eads said, “The club will also bring people together who share the joy of crafting and is a good way to learn about one another and grow your village.”
