HOSA organized a homeless drive starting late November to December 8th to help the homeless throughout Knoxville. The HOSA president reached out to the organization and got them the opportunity to bring HOSA members together in making the homeless bags.
“It feels really nice to do something good for other people, it makes me feel the Christmas spirit while helping others,” Morgan James said.
The feeling of helping another person can be very impactful for both people involved. HOSA aimed to bring hygienic supplies or just anything that would help the lives of the homeless communities.
The outcome met and even exceeded expectations due to strong community participation. The drive lasted a few weeks and ended on December 8th.
“I think helping the homeless is very beneficial… Being able to be someone that has helped these people brings me so much happiness and joy to me” Sophia Headrick said.
HOSA members showed great dedication by organizing the homeless drive. While they helped change many people’s lives, they also helped themselves by experiencing the joy of helping others.
“Helping others builds empathy, responsibility, and personal growth while making a positive impact on the community,” Brooklyn Griffin said.
HOSA was very appreciative of all donations made and happy that they were able to help out the organization’s. HOSA hopes to continue spreading warmth and kindness beyond the holiday season.
