Starting high school is stressful, especially when you have to pick a pathway. At Karns High School, freshmen have to choose something that will affect their classes next year and what they do outside of school. Some students already know what they want, but a lot are still trying to figure it out. It is very interesting to see how freshmen are thinking about their choices and what’s helping them decide.
“Well, I’ve been thinking about picking one but i’m not 100% sure yet. I’m trying to figure out what i’m good at and like what I actually like, said Chloe Williamson when asked which pathway she wanted to pick.
This shows that some freshman are still unsure about picking a pathway. They all want to choose something that they like and what they are passionate about. That makes the decision harder but it shows that many are still trying.
“I have my friends and my family and my teachers helping me. I don’t want to pick the wrong thing,” said Jacob Ducharme.
Some worry about choosing the wrong pathway. Jacob Ducharme said that support from his friends, family and teachers help him feel more comfortable. This shows that having people help you with things can help in the future and the advice can be less stressful for freshman.
“Agro science, I want to be a vet. I’m very excited to pick my pathway and have fun next year,” said Crew Batey.
Some freshmen already know what pathway they want to pick. Most of them are excited instead of dressing about choosing. They feel like their pathway will help them for the future. This shows that not all of the freshman are confused and some feel good about their choices.
In the end, picking a pathway is a big step and decision. Some are unsure and stressed while others are very confident with what they want. No matter how they feel many are taking time to think about their future and what is best for them.
