In November the Karns High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps partnered with the Marine Corps Reserves to support their annual “Toys for Tots” program.
JROTC aimed to make toy donations more accessible for families and provide service opportunities for cadets.
“I partnered with the marine corp reserves here in Knoxville and they run a program called ‘Toys for Tots’ and I signed up our school to be a donation center through JROTC so people from our school could donate toys easier,” Senior Zoie James said.
The Toys for Tots program, founded in 1947 collects new toys from the months of October to December every year, and distributes the gifts to less fortunate children in the community.Toys for Tots is a great opportunity for the community to come together for a good cause that can bring joy to others.
“I think it’s great we have the opportunity to give help to those who really need it, ” Freshman Asia Hayes said.
As the holidays season rapidly approaches the Karns community hopes to do everything they can to make sure everyone can feel the magic of the holidays. Students and staff are encouraged to bring new toys to the school to be donated to children in need of them.
“I think Toys for Tots is a great idea. It’s really helpful to those who need it,” Senior Eulalia Pascual said.
Toys for Tots is a great way for cadets to help out the community while also working together while also building valuable skills needed.
By supporting Toys for Tots, the Karns community are providing acts of kindness that will not go unnoticed and make a huge difference in the lives of others by bringing the magic of Christmas into people’s lives.
